"Imagine the darkness of one's mind evolving into millions of colours, what interests me is the fine line between what is real and what is unreal."
Michele Righetti is a painter, sculptor and printmaker. His works are collected internationally by private and corporate clients in Australia, China, Europe, India, Singapore and USA.
After studying fashion, textile and industrial design in Bologna and Como, Righetti collaborated with textile houses such as Versace and Hermes. However, the passion for fine art ensued, which led Righetti to pursue a further fine art course with private tuition under the guidance of Maestro Stano Dusėk in Florence, Italy. It was during this time that Michele learnt various painting, engraving and sculpturing techniques, following an intense learning process based on workshops and practical work experience.
Righetti paints with oil, acrylic, egg tempera, watercolours, and engraves using etching, dry point and “vernis mou “ techniques. Michele’s interests range from classic and contemporary oil landscapes, portraits and still life to mixed media and acrylic abstract art. His sculptures are made experimenting with natural stones, metals such as copper and bronze, synthetic fibers and wood.
The art of Michele Righetti is strongly influenced by his passion for traveling and exploration of new lands. It is this ongoing love for discovery and new experiences which serves as an important source of inspiration to his artworks.
The artist works through sketches and photos taken by himself or through re-collections of scenes, settings, faces or moments vividly captured in his mind through observant eyes.
Righetti’s art is an expression of an open and constant search of the truth behind elements in nature. It is this relentless pursuit which has allowed him to confidently explore real forms of life and transfer these onto canvases with a touch of poetry.
Regardless of the subject of his paintings, whether this involves the interpretation of the human body, a harmonious landscape or some other aspect of life, Righetti derives expressed joy in communion with God's creation in his work.
