Sue Kay is a watercolor artist who gets much of her inspiration from her native Maine. She has roots in the state that precede the American Revolution and though her family moved away, she returns every year to immerse herself in Maine's natural beauty and unique culture.
Sue is best known for her New England landscapes that range from the coast and mountains of Maine to the beautiful gardens of Hartford, Connecticut. She has been fascinated with carousel horses and other Victorian masterpieces.
Her favorite places to paint include island trails and mountain streams in addition to her cozy studio in Derwood, Maryland.
Sue Kay graduated from Syracuse University with a degree in Illustration from the School of Visual and Performing Arts. She pursued a wide variety of freelance work early in her career including portraits, paper sculpture, and architectural renderings. Currently she takes on art students in her home, hoping to inspire others to pursue their imaginations and creative talents.
Sue and her husband Allen have two children, Ian and Colin.
