Artists Statement

Following her Fine Art degree, Becky focused on community projects and work for exhibition.  Her work can be divided into two areas, that of 2D animal 'portraits' and Textile Art.  Her work consists primarily of these works; but she is generally interested in the subversion of textiles and traditional textile pursuits; the formation of femininity; lesbian sexuality, and its relationship with textiles as a raw material.

An important quote for her work is quoted below:

“I know (or at least I have been told) that that substance the silkworm discharges while making it’s cocoon would poison it, if it kept it inside. It purges itself of it. To save itself, it empties itself.” - André Gide
