Artwork Selection - See all my art

Artists Statement

As a child, I enjoyed drawing, and did so at every opportunity. I did not have an opportunity to take lessons, but I had a childhood friend who did. She created beautiful oil paintings that always mesmerized me. Over the years, the desire to learn to paint lingered in the back of my mind. Well, life happened, and before I knew it, 30 years had passed. Finally, in 2004, I decided that it was time to learn to paint. I ordered my supplies and read every oil painting book that I could get my hands on. I watched many instructional DVD’s in an attempt to learn how to create beautiful paintings. My “teachers” were Helen Van Wyk, Robert Warren, Alexi Antonov and Mark Carder.
I paint exclusively in oils, having found them more enjoyable than acrylics or watercolors. Painting is a wonderful, creative outlet and stress reliever after a hectic 12+ hour shift as an RN in an intensive care unit. Many of my paintings grace the walls of homes in the Birmingham and Mobile areas. I am a member of the Birmingham Art Association and my paintings have been exhibiting in the BAA Member's Shows as well as a solo exhibition and in local galleries. I receive great joy in watching the faces and hearing the remarks of people who see my paintings for the first time.
