My name is Arny Bjork and I've had this strange itch to create stuff ever since I was a child. A turning point in my life came when I temporarily moved to the US and entered Arizona State University. I graduated from there and moved on to Pratt Institute in New York.
These years I spent studying art are priceless to me, specially all the opportunities and experiences I had. I get a little homesick when I think of it. I guess a part of me will always belong to the states and all the wonderful people I got to know.
My home country, though, is Iceland and I'm quite proud of that, too. I'm a single mom of two girls and I teach art to children at a local school and work in an after school shelter.
At night I paint. Often I paint as a way to reconnect to my inner experinces. I paint how I feel and I paint what I see in the world around me. I think painting is my meditation. It's a way of life and I can't imagine life without it. I also think painting is my way of communicating.
I'm a quiet person, an observer and a listener but through my paintings I get to speak, shout out even and openly express my need for a connection to those around me.
I've been a part of a few shows and had couple of galleries represent my work.
A few years ago, people began to buy the small cards I made for occasions like birthdays, Christmas, new babies and so on. Therefore, I began to produce them and a few shops here in Iceland buy them to resell.
I have a homepage, please check it out:
