MARILENA PILLA
THE ARTIST:
Born in Puglia, she lives and works in Bergamo.
For ten years she devoted herself to Interior Decorations and more recently to painting.
With a degree in Scenography from the Academy of Fine Arts of Bologna, she worked in Sidney, London and New York as a freelance designer.
Now back in Italy, she lives in Bergamo working on decorations and painting. Her works can be seen in different art-exibitions such as the GiòArt Gallery of Lucca.

HER WORKS:
Experimenting with colour is part of her work. Her nature is expressed through those Mediterranean colours she can’t do without.
Her favourite theme is the chair or part of it, with no particular attention to perspective and shadows.
The critic Enzo Santese stressed that her work belongs to a neoiconic trend.
It is a timeless painting where she emphasizes that balance is something very personal like fitted clothes.
The chair repeated over and over,with different shapes, is never the same but it carries an obsession for life constantly in balance with itself and the people it meets. Balance may be achieved or not depending on the situation but her chairs never fall.
The bright colours stand for life, lived to the fullest with joy.
It is an endless search, but also pleasant because it never ends, it is a harmonious but complex journey.
