Ben Lawson kicked around as a physicist and engineer for a long time before becoming an artist and illustrator and, apart from the constant scribbling, his career to date could be described as pretty random including sourcing squirrels for Rumanian TV and reporting on nuclear terrorism for the Japanese government. Much of his work describes a fascination with early scientific illustrations and the antiquarian imagination. He is particularly known for his pen and ink images of fish.
Ben lives in Newcastle with his wife and son.
