Born in Dublin, Ireland in 1971, Jonathan Lyons grew up in Dublin where he went to school at Catholic University School, Leeson Street, Dublin 2.

After leaving school, Jonathan went into hotel management and subsequently located to Galway in the west of Ireland where he met his wife Sinead (nee Russell) who is originally from Templemore, Co Tipperary, Ireland.

While in Galway in 2004, Jonathan decided to take up a life long craving to paint. He is basically self-taught, though Jonathan says he must credit a lot of his basic skills to a very old friend of his mothers and renowned Dublin artist Valda Sterne.

Jonathan describes his art as having an eclectic style which metamorphoses through his body of work. Jonathan would consider himself as a ‘colourist’ artist, which is evident in all of his work and is continually improving and trying new methods of painting.

Jonathan also received a Diploma in Fine & Decorative Arts with the ‘Institute of Professional Auctioneers and Valuers (I.P.A.V) in Dublin in May 2007.
