Brief Bio:
Nicholas A. Roes is an artist and author of more than 12 published books and hundreds of articles on a wide range of topics. His work has been displayed at exhibits throughout New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, and is held in many private collections. His art has also been used to raise money for public radio as well as not-for-profit theatre groups.
Nick's work is prized by collectors because his style is unmistakable, yet each piece is uniquely different. His minimalist style expresses and evokes a wide range of emotion.
Each black and white drawing captures an interesting aspect of the human experience, and Nick's color work offers an ambiguity that invites viewers to learn more about themselves.
"He employs a deceptively childlike style with strong, simple lines that convey an abundance of energy and feeling with a minimum of fuss." (River Reporter)
Nick lives and works in Barryville, NY, where he is a member of the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance and the Barryville Area Arts Association.
Artist's Statement:
"The creative process, for me, is one of discovery. I've never been inspired by a vision of the finished product--only by the sheer joy of creation. The end result is always one I never could have imagined."
