The Best of West Virginia
A Juried Exhibition

To commemorate Tamarack’s 12th anniversary, Tamarack sponsored its second juried art exhibition and awards competition, The Best of West Virginia, which opened, appropriately enough, on West Virginia Day.

Kanawha County artist Chris Dutch won the $2000 Best of Show award with his untitled stained glass. Second Place, $1000, was awarded to John Nofsinger from McDowell County, for his work entitled, The Wanderer.  Nicholas County potter Lori Doolittle won the $500 third place award for Ophelia I.   Merit awards of $250 each were announced for the mixed media creation, Imaginary New Orleans, by Mark Tobin Moore; and for The Mill Runs Dry, a photograph by Bruce Haley, Jr.  Both merit winners are from Kanawha County.  Major awards were sponsored by David L. and Linda Dickirson through a gift to the Tamarack Foundation.

The Best of West Virginia exhibit includes 124 selections from 89 West Virginia artists and artisans who submitted a total of 700 works. The exhibit is open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily through Aug. 3, 2008.
