What is the story behind this painting?
"The Whimsical Dancer" is inspired by the vitality and passion of dance. After seeing "The Blue Dancers" by Edgar Degas, I was inspired to create a painting which conveyed a dancer with a similar commitment to the art of dance. Since then, I have created a series of these paintings. I created this painting during May of 2008. The vitality of this painting would make it perfect for a dance studio, young girl's room, or any other place with a vibrant dance-themed style. Expressionist brushstrokes inspired the brushwork of this piece. My paintings, however, are created in a style that can not be singularly labeled as "Impressionist" or "Expressionist" but rather, are a reflection of my own artistic development and style.
