Description

Fort Worth Stockyards an original oil on canvas
I often travel to the historic Fort Worth Stockyards to capture the transitory horses and other stock that travel through for the Trailrides, Rodeos and Cowboy gatherings.
Texas residence had already undergone 30 days in a row of one hundred degree soul melting heat that summer and I was there on location with the TV series 'Dallas' shooting at Billy Bob's Texas (The world's largest Honky Tonk) Bullriding arena.
I collected these scenes for there passivity, and moments like this one where a working horse would be resting up and about to be watered and fed.
In these quiet moments I look for the environments effect, for the stress and aging marks left on them that comes from living in harsh conditions. It's kind of uplifting to see these hard working animals and the folks that take care of them when there in repose either before they compete or after they have done their chores Fine Art America.com
