Description

The ''Girl Dancing with Joy'' is one member of a series of nudes done in oil by Dr Aiming Sun at Emory Unversity. Dr. Sun was born near Nanjing, China, as the youngest daughter of the family. She achieved her Chemistry Ph.D degree with honors and received specialty training at the highly-regarded Institute of Organic Chemistry in Shanghai. Dr. Sun is presently Associate Director of a group of research chemists working on drug-treatment therapies for cancer and viruses. In her spare time, in the presence of her calico cat, she paints female figures, landscapes and flowers reminiscent of Georgia O'Keefe. The present series was inspired by charcoal drawings executed in a joint project with a well-known Atlanta portrait painter.
