This is the 2nd in a series of studies. The painting is of a spiny sea horse emerging from a coral reef. The spines of the sea horse is painted in a way to look like rising flames from its body the sea horse is emerging from a sea of fire. The coral reef looks like flowing molten lava that is rising in to flame like formations this is to give the impression of the sea bed being on fire.
