Black Rocks ( 2006, Original ) by Andy Peat

Description

My friend Tom and I went up to Cromford by train for the weekend. We spent two nights sleeping al fresco under a rock ledge, and in the day in between we painted. We couldn't agree on what to paint, so I went for this long-view, with the huge rocks and chalky ground, while he went for a smaller cluster of rocks a minute's walk away. It's the first time that I ever spent so long on one session of painting- 10 hours were spent on this day (you might notice incosistencies in the shadows!) It was nearly a disaster- I broke the canvass frame while jumping over a hedge on the way there. I was still able to paint though.
