Description

This whimsical illustration was inspired by the avant garde Soviet constructionist style of children's books from the 1920's and 1930's --- although this illustration was intended to be more playful and energetic! I remember loving the woodblock prints in children's fairy tales more than the stories themselves ? the chaos, subtle hidden elements, the mystery and action. And how every time I would look at them I would find something new.

The print measures 6" x 10" and is printed on Somerset Velvet heavyweight paper, which has been the first paper choice among serious artists and printmakers dating back to the 1700?s and the days of handmade paper.
