Description

"Japanese Orchids" is a piece which was inspired by my love of Japanese kimonos and flowers. The artwork looks at some beautifully exotic orchids amongst a background of pattern. The artwork uses a mixture of techniques and different medias to create a striking look. The orchids and other flowers are painted with the use of ink and pipette. This allows me to depict their delicate nature, and create a feel of their movement. These flowers are then inter cut into a navy and gold patterned ground. The background is created with the use of gold leaf, a technique very popular in Japanese art. The gold capturing the light beautifully, this piece would look great hung on a wall.
