Artists Statement

I was born August 28, 1973 and raised in the beautiful state of Kentucky. When I was 6, my family moved to a dairy/tobacco farm located in Lincoln County, KY where my eyes were opened to the world around me...
One cool, misty morning around mid-November, I ventured out of the small building where Mom and Dad was working stripping off the leaves of tobacco. I walked up the long rise of the wide open field. When I reached the top and looked around, the view before me wasn't like anything I had ever seen. There, I saw far into the distance the rolling hills with tree lines and fences separating the farmhouses and barns with silos. The view rushed deep into my being creating an excitement that has never ceased. After taking one last look, I quickly ran back down the hill and busted open the door of the stripping building to see surprised faces on all the workers. I exclaimed, looking up at my Mom, "Mommy, Mommy I can see forever." Then, laughter followed as everyone realized my excitement.
That day will forever be a fond memory for me, for it marks the beginning of my destiny as an artist. I completely enjoy painting a landscape, however, I can paint any subject. To create a work of art for someone to enjoy gives me the greatest pleasure........Trish King Slaven
