Beavertail Park, Jamestown, Watercolor Painting is about 12 X 16 inches done on Arches 140 pound paper. This is plein air painting done yesterday, which turned out to be a gorgeous day here in Rhode Island. I took lots of photos to work on paintings in my studio, but it's great to be outside to see the colors. I loved the contrast of those rocks and waves crashing against them and the delicate rose flowers that grow wild along the coast.

Three Yellow Roses watercolor painting is 7 x 10 inches, on Arches 140 pound paper. The yellow rose represents friendship, and so it's fitting that there are three, and they are in intimate relationship with each other.

Water Lily watercolor painting is 5 x 7 inches. I have been busy working on paintings for a children's book, so my postings here have not been every day, although I am painting every day. I spent this morning plein air painting with a group from the watercolor society I belong to at the Botanical Center at Roger Williams Park in Providence. What a gorgeous day!
Yellow rose watercolor painting is 7.5 x 7.5 inches done on Sennelier 140 pound paper. Yellow is hard to shadow. I almost posted this last night, but I thought to wait until this a.m. and see if I wanted to make improvements since I wasn't 100% happy with it and I'm glad I did, because I am happy with this.
Daffodil watercolor painting is 7 x 7 inches and is from a Wet Canvas weekend drawing event.
This is a 5 x 7 inch watercolor done on Fabriano Artistico 140 pound paper. If you have noticed that I'm not posting here as frequently, it's not because I am not painting. I am working on illustrations for a children's book, which I'm very excited and happy about being able to do.

Sailing into New Harbor is a 7 x 10 inch watercolor done on Arches 140 pound paper. Such a beautiful clear day on Block Island in September, with a limited number of people. We painted here all day near the Coast Guard House at the entrance of New Harbor. I have a four person art show March 29th at the watercolor society, so I have been busy with getting ready for that...not enough time to paint!!!
Cattle watercolor painting is 12 x 16 inches....who knew purple cows would work so well. I have not been able to do enough painting recently. I have a four person show in three weeks and have been getting organized for it - framing, matting, ordering, measuring, catologing.... I would definitely rather be painting.
Underwater watercolor painting is 11 x 14 inches on Arches 140 pound paper, from a WetCanvas.com reference image for a weekend drawing event several weeks ago. I loved the way the water reflects on the objects below and wanted to capture that.
Robbie watercolor painting from a black and white photo of my father, is 8 x 10 inches and is done on YES canvas. This is my first time using a canvas for watercolors, so it took me a while playing with this and I'm still not happy with it. You can wash off 95% of the paint, which I did twice. The paint lifts really easily when you're adding a wash, or blending colors, so you need a very soft brush and just the right amount of water.....so a learning curve, for sure. The advantage is it can be sprayed with a fixative and then varnished, and this particular canvas is a 3/4" wrapped canvas, so it could be hung without a frame at all, once the sides are painted. So, that's the reason for no posts for a few days here ....I've been doing the same painting over and over!
Newfound Lake, New Hampshire, a summer day, is 12 x 16 inches on Arches 140 pound paper. Ahhh, summer is coming, even though there is snow today.....
