The exquisite sweet heart shaped leaves of this hosta shrub pulled me into the experience of painting these hostas. The sensual red oranges coupled with the royal blue violet shadow pattern and metallic gold accents on the veins of the leaves are compelling. The contrast of the deep darks in the shadow patterns against the brilliance of the sunlit scarlet leaves make them pop out and hold your adoring attention. The painting continues around all four edges of the canvas eliminating the need for framing of this contemporary acrylic painting. It is a show stopper. They really are Sweet Tarts. Hi, Sheri,
Thankyou for your great comments. I'm glad you like what I do. In a competition right here on Artflock a couple of months ago I was one of two winners of a free custom website design and domain name. Ed Lea, who designed it for me was really great to work with. Very patient and helpful with technical problem solving for me also and he gave me personal and timely attention. You can visit my website at www.SandiWhetzel.com and my external blog at www.SandiWhetzel.blogspot.com. It's great that you are finally going to have the time to concentrate more on your painting projects. They look like fun and your creativity is blossoming. I didn't start painting until around age 40 when my kids were becoming more independent. I was self-taught also until I attended a class by a wonderfully talented woman. She has become my mentor. I still paint with her whenever I can.
