Description

As an artist, I am drawn to exquisite, enchanting shapes I find in the plant world. This delicate succulent reminds me of a rosette. To capture the flesh-like texture of it I applied a transparent, glossy resin-like medium to all the leaf shapes and then painted that very sleek, smooth surface with thin glazes of color. It resembles stained glass or a painted tile. The painting extends around all four edges of the canvas which eliminates the need for framing this contemporary painting. The predominant pinks with accents of golds, blue greens and yellow greens and violets, together with the delicate shapes of the succulents just seem to express a Reason for Being.
