Description

"Peonies and Bottles" is the first painting in my series of Japanese inspired floral artworks. The piece looks at a mixture of delicate English peonies against the striking contrast of Japanese patterns, bringing together the Eastern and Western worlds. This series of works was heavily influenced by the striking designs of the Japanese kimonos: their sense of story and pattern. I have used a mixture of watercolour and collage in this piece to create a sense of depth and texture. The sophisticated colour palette of mauve's, greens and blue make it perfect for any room.
